Bloggers’ Kapihan 2.0: Blog Ed 101

After the resounding success of the first ever Bloggers’ Kapihan 1.0: Blogging Beyond the Basics, the BK crew once again comes around for yet another virtual-becomes-real venture.

The BK Crew presents Bloggers’ Kapihan 2.0: Blog Ed 101. This time around, let us tackle the importance of blogging in learning, learning in blogging and blogging as a tool for alternative education. The event will be held on October 13, 2007, 1:30PM at the Ramon Magsaysay High School in Quezon City.

Blog Ed 101 is in cooperation with the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT), a nationwide network of educators from different schools, colleges and universities.

Blog Ed 101 will feature some of the country’s most prominent teacher-bloggers as resource persons:

Sir Martin Perez, Social Studies teacher of the Philippine Science High School, will give introductory concepts and tips on blogging as a tool for instruction.

Prof. Danny Arao, assistant professor of the Department of Journalism at the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication, will tackle how blogging can be instrumental for alternative education and how websites can be transformed into ‘virtual classrooms’.

Mr. Tonchi Tinio, chairperson of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers, will provide an overview on the advantages and disadvantages of the controversial CyberEducation Project of the Department of Education.

Lalon dela Rosa, who’s currently taking up his Certificate for Teaching Program at the Philippine Normal University Graduate School and is planning to teach high school English after, will be the student-reactor of the event.

Blog Ed 101 is sponsored by Digitalfilipino.com Club, Philippine Genre Stories, Pinoy Web Hosting Solutions, Phil-hosting.net, New Beginning, Ladygadfly, JaypeeOnline, The ANiTOKiD.

Bloggers’ Kapihan is an effort and initiative of some of the country’s most prolific young bloggers today. It aims to bring young bloggers together to discuss issues and matters that affect the blogosphere and the youth in general.

It also aims to provide a venue for young bloggers to meet up and expand networks inside and outside the blogosphere.

Bloggers’ Kapihan will also award the best blog entry on the first BK forum on this date.

    I want to go… Since I’m interested (very interested) in this matter. I’m even planning to build a website for teacher resources (just haven’t got the ball rolling)

    but with quarterly exams coming up… and finals for me… waaahh… >__

    Mi, it seems that you share this prob with others (not excluding myself hehe). Pero go! 4 hours lang naman po ito, and it’d be an interesting forum for teachers and educ students. :)

    I might actually come. I forgot that there won’t be classes on Friday so it’s okay. It’s just too bad that I haven’t started working on that website I’m planning on so I won’t be able to bring it up there. XC
